The spirit of unity in black communities is lacking while it is of utmost importance for African development. The Black Child Clothing brand seeks to preach Black Empowerment through their designs and empower youth.
The 18 year old founder of Black Child Clothing, Khululekani Tlou, of Soshanguve Block FF, aims at producing clothes that will be inspirational to the black society.
“I came up with this concept because my vision is to see every black child free mentally.
“As blacks, we don’t like supporting or growing one another, we should unite and empower one another to be able to reach greatness,” said Mr Tlou.

He said black empowerment means black people joining forces to promote the next black person. It means supporting local talent and pulling out the last resources to assist the next black person.
The brand was started in 2017and since then, Mr Tlou has partnered with Nkosinathi Longo 17 and Nhlanhla Zulu 19 both from Soshanguve.
Black Child aims at creating awareness, inspiring youth to follow their dreams as well as promoting black pride.
“In the next 10 years, we would like to see ourselves owning stores all over Africa, we want to see unity in the black society.
“Entering the market is our biggest challenge, we go through a lot trying to sell out brand but doors are shut in our faces.
“Soshanguve is a black township with potential for the youth, however, it is not out there because of lack of black empowerment. The country needs to think more on how to implement black empowerment and change the lives of the youth,” he said.
