Mayor of Tshwane, Stevens Mokgalapa, addressed the media at Centurion on Monday 10 June 2019, where he gave himself a thumbs up for what he has done over the first 100 days in the office.
The Mayor highlighted the things he has done and rated himself 9 out 10 so far.
He said he has terminated the contract of Glad-Africa, a service provider in Olievenhoutbosch within two weeks in office, due to poor service delivery.
He also said it is unaccepted that residents had been waiting for houses for five years, “I think our residents deserve better than that, Glad- Africa contract has been raised to the inspection and performance committee for investigation because of the uneven expenditure experienced in the contract,” Said Mr Mokgalapa.
“I am happy to also announce that the financial disciplinary board held its first meeting last week, and depending on the committee’s recommendation, they will act accordingly.” He added.
On his inaugural speech, Mokgalapa referred himself as a ‘service delivery mayor’ not an ‘office mayor’.
“I had to hit the ground running. To date I have been to all regions on the service delivery card. I visited wards and held 15 public meetings,” he said.
Mokgalapa appointed MMCs and gave them instructions to accelerate service delivery and also started a campaign ‘I am Tshwane Campaign’ which enabled him to share his vision with the residents of Tshwane.
“This campaign commenced at the beginning of March, and it was critical for me if we are to be serious about working for the residents of the City.” He said.

• Purchase of 73 emergency vehicles
• Purchase of nine service delivery trucks
• Increase in number of Wifi connections points which will increase to over 1000 in the next three years
• Launch of the Denneboom bridge in Mamelodi
• Identification of three buildings which will be turned into student accommodation
