Tshwane Acting City Manager, Ms Mmaseabata Mutlaneng, and the Group Head in the city manager’s office, Mr Msizi Myeza, has tested positive for Covid-19. Ms Myeza has recently taken ill and decided to do a Covid-19 test, and their results came back positive.

Ms Mutlaneng and Mr Myeza are self-isolating at their respective homes and are responding well to treatment. Ms Mutlaneng has begged the City’s employees and the residents of the capital city to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols, and prevent the spread of the pandemic, especially now that the country is in the second wave.

“We need to destigmatize this disease and speak openly about it with a view to encouraging those that have tested positive that they, too, can conquer it. Some of our colleagues that tested positive had previously come back stronger than ever before.

“Let’s continue to practice the golden rules of regularly washing our hands, wearing face cloth masks that cover the nose and mouth, and observe physical distancing. Together, we can contain the spread of this pandemic by adhering to the COVID-19 protocols, and avoid attending the so-called ‘super-spreader’ events”, said Ms Mutlaneng.
