The City of Tshwane presented athletic equipment to local football clubs at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve recently. This was done in collaboration with JDR Football Club and the South African Football Association (SAFA) in the Tshwane Region.

The clubs that received donations were KDS United Football Club, Young Spartans Football Club, and Holbeach Football Club. These clubs had reached out to the city for sporting attire and equipment donations. The collaboration is part of JDR’s corporate social responsibility initiative.

JDR Stars also conducted coaching clinics for the developing clubs, allowing them to engage with their senior team role models.

Counsellor Peggy Du Bruin who is the MMC responsible for Community and Social Development Services performed the official transfer on behalf of the city.

JDR Football Club is a Tshwane-based soccer club that plays in the Glad Africa Championship League.

“The City would like to thank SAFA Tshwane and JDR Stars Football Club who partnered with us in making this request a reality, with the latter availing their full technical team and senior players to motivate the young players on how to become professional soccer players”, says Counsellor Du Bruin.

The city will also gift soccer goalposts to the other football associations in Tshwane’s seven districts.
