Pensioners were treated to a cup of soup and blankets by the Soshanguve Plaza on the day of pension payouts. This unexpected gesture comes as the Plaza thanks the community and the elders for selecting to receive their pensions at the shopping mall.
Mr Musa Ntshengedzeni of Soshanguve Plaza said on the first day of grant payout, the mall served soup to roughly 80 senior citizens and distributed blankets to keep them warm.
“What we realized is that these senior citizens spend their grant money on us so we did all of this to show them that we appreciate their tremendous support,” he said.
Ms Zinto Ditsele, who received one of the blankets and soup said the blankets and soup help them because they arrive early in the morning to chase the line.
Mr Rongo Mahlatsi, a community member said he will continue to support the Plaza because they provide excellent service and take care of the elderly.
