A Soshanguve woman who built a small business selling eggs to support her family has received a major boost after winning the grand prize in the national Kickstart Your Business with Boxer competition.

Thirty nine year old Miss Yvonne Dlamini was announced as the grand prize winner of the campaign, an initiative by Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) in partnership with Boxer Superstores and Power Play. The prize package includes a fully equipped Bizniz in a Box (BiB) container that will serve as a permanent storefront, a new Foton Tunland G7 bakkie and Boxer eRewards to stock the business.

According to CCBSA, Ms Dlamini entered the competition after purchasing two Power Play energy drinks during a grocery shopping trip at Boxer and swiping her Boxer Rewards card.

Speaking after receiving the prize, Ms Dlamini said the win would help her expand the business she had worked hard to build.

“I am so excited, this is beyond my wildest dreams. My winnings will help me achieve more goals as a single parent. Running my egg business has not always been easy, but I have always believed in working hard and providing for my family.”

She said having a permanent business space, reliable transport, and funding to buy stock would allow her to reach more customers and grow the enterprise.

CCBSA Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Director Bame Modimogale said the initiative forms part of the company’s efforts to support township entrepreneurship and strengthen local economies.

“At CCBSA, we believe that economic growth is most powerful when it starts in our communities. Community involvement and partnerships allow us to bring positive, measurable change to both the communities in which we operate and to our business.”

According to the company, the Bizniz in a Box programme was launched in 2016 to support youth and women entrepreneurs in township and rural communities. CCBSA says the programme has assisted more than 800 entrepreneurs across Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

For Miss Dlamini, what began as a modest egg-selling business has now become an opportunity to build a larger retail enterprise. The investment is expected to improve her ability to serve customers while strengthening the foundation for long-term business growth.
