Newly Renovated entrance in Soshanguve R80

For years, the entrance into Soshanguve along the R80 has been more of an eyesore than a welcome. That’s beginning to change. In mid September, the City of Tshwane’s Environment and Agriculture Management department, led by MMC Obakeng Ramabodu, moved in to clean, decorate and repair the gateway part of a broader beautification push under the City’s #ReASpana service delivery campaign.

The work wasn’t just cosmetic. Alongside new decorative plants and general landscaping, the team repaired children’s play equipment in the area, a detail that speaks directly to what residents have apparently been asking for.

” We are here to clean up the place, plant trees and make sure the environment is clean, safe and stable,” said MMC Ramabodu.

He further stated that Mamelodi is next on the list, with the department set to ensure that the area’s parks and public spaces are also properly maintained.

It’s a small stretch of road, but for a community entrance that doubles as a play space for local children, the difference between neglect and upkeep isn’t cosmetic; it’s about whether kids have somewhere safe to be, and the entrance has a beautiful entrance for welcome attractions and visits.
