Three people were injured after being hit by a car on the night of Friday the 8th of September 2017 in Lebanon, Winterveldt. The driver was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. There was no loss of life.

The driver was seen speeding in his black Corolla and lost control of the wheel and hit a woman (43) and her two children (16 and 1) and the car ended up going through the fence of Ols Apostolic Church of South Africa, also injuring himself in the process.

The community wanted to take the law into their own hands but they were prevented from doing so by the police, who arrived at the scene after an hour. The injured people including the driver were transported to Legae Hospital.

“There was a white car that looks exactly like this car that drove past and when I turned around, I saw the black car losing control because it was heading towards the wall. As he was losing control, he hit the woman who was carrying a baby and the 16 year old was tossed in the air by the impact of the crash” said one witness, who refused to be identified.

The police said that they’ll have to wait for the medical report to confirm if the driver was indeed drunk during the accident. They said that the driver could be charged with reckless and negligent driving.
