The Soshanguve Police Services have confirmed an attempted cash in transit robbery in the early morning of Monday outside the Falala Shopping Center in Block F, Soshanguve.
It is alleged that the attempt was reported following five unknown suspects armed with firearms and explosives. The suspects bombed a security van and disarmed two security officers of their firearms, one pistol and a R5 rifle.
The suspects who are still at large assaulted the driver of the security van and several shots were fired but no serious fatalities were reported. The driver of the van was taken to hospital with injuries and no arrest were made.
“The police are continuing to investigate and we appeal to members of the community to report any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators,” Constable Zanele Mtsweni of the Soshanguve Police Station said.
