Due to the recent picture circulation of application forms that caused an uproar on social media showing job application forms being packed and loaded before delivery in the back of an open van (bakkie), the City of Tshwane were probed to investigate on the matter and has concluded an internal investigation.

The City of Tshwane Manager Dr. Moeketsi, initiated the internal investigation on 04 April 2018 into the transportation of application forms vacant positions. This has cleared the misunderstanding on social media comments from Twitter that the company was going to dump the CV’s and gave the perception that people would not be considered for employment.

According to a press release from the City of Tshwane, the application forms in the circulating pictures were being packed at the city’s offices in Temba, Region 2, to be transported to the city’s recruitment office’s One-Stop Centre at Bothongo Plaza West, in the CBD. This follows the city’s advertisement of about 581 operational posts, which are meant to incapacitate the workforce and improve service delivery.

The investigation has revealed that one of the applicants who was queuing to submit the application form while the city employee was loading the forms onto the van (bakkie) took the pictures. The city is re-assuring the public that all the CV’s which were loaded onto the van, were successfully delivered to the One-Stop Centre for sorting.

In the press release, the city said that they had previously introduced the E-recruitment system to avoid potential applications from queuing at their offices and that they recently experienced some technical glitches with the system and are currently in the process of refining it to enable it to work optimally.

The City Manager has prioritised the filling of administrative posts to enable personnel to respond quickly and speedily to service delivery interruptions and to complaints from irate customers.
