Following the recent heavy rainfalls that left certain areas in Pretoria flooded and damage infrastructure, the City of Tshwane has proposed a procedure for residents to report these issues.
Not only did the extreme weather conditions destroy roads and streetlights, it also left Pretoria without power, several power substations in Tshwane tripped due to the heavy rain.
This left thirteen bridges closed and several roads declared no go areas. Many streetlights are off and some of the roads damaged.
The City of Tshwane has sent out teams who are currently attending to the affected areas and request residents to report the streetlights that are off and damaged roads.
Residents are reqeusted to report as follows:
• Call 012 358 9999 and follow voice prompt or send an email to streetlights@tshwane.gov.za
• Provide the physical street address
• Adjacent streets
• Pole number, if available, alternatively the house number
• Details of the problem
Further, report all street-related problems to pothole@TSHWANE.GOVE.ZA
The city wishes to apologise to all the residents inconvenienced by the damaged roads and the streetlights that are off.
