Letlhogonolo Mogotlane a 19 years old girl from Soshanguve block L .started a small campaign called ‘Living with Autism’.
The idea of ‘Living With Autism’ campaign was created as a way to help raise awareness and show support for families and individuals living with autism.
Autism is a neurological and development disorder that affects a child’s communication and behaviour and it is a growing health concern.
“On the 13thApril 2019 I hosted an event to educate people about autism because in black communities there is a lack of knowledge about autism. Parents are living with kids that have autism but they are failing to accept it.
“We mostly find kids living with autism in normal schools while they need special schools that deals with this conditions and this is because of lack of information,” said Ms Mogotlane.

She said she has a passion for helping children living with autism and she decided to embark on the campaign to help parents who cannot afford school fees at autism schools because there are organisation that offer free services and she can make recommendations.
“I have organized support groups that will be taking place every first week of the month starting from the 6th of July at 2810 Block L Soshanguve next to TUT small gate.
“I would like to promote the support group and encourage more people to be part of it,” she said.
