Gauteng MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure, Mr Jacob Mamabolo, with the Shoshanguve Ward 37 Councilor, Mr Sankie Ntohla and the owner of the construction company that failed to complete a road construction, Mr Joshua Ndlovu, visited the incomplete road construction site in Soshanguve Extension 4 and 13 last week Friday 28 February 2020 to troubleshoot and find a solution to complete the project.
This follows the story that Soshanguve Pulse covered last week about an unfinished road that affects the community badly as it floods during rainy days, has exposed electricity wires and holes that are left uncovered which is a danger to children and members of the community.
The visit by the MEC and Councilor was to engage with residences who are affected.
Mr Joshua Ndlovu explained that the municipality paid his construction company to get the work done but it was unfortunate that they had some internal challenges as a company and now they are resolved and they should be getting back to work soon.
The MEC was displeased to learn that there is an abandoned site, and took it upon himself to see how to have it completed. He also said if the company does not start working soon, he will take further steps regarding this matter.
“This is unacceptable, none of the spheres of government should have a project that is poorly managed
“This project should get back on track by Monday, if it does not I will definitely petition the City of Tshwane through the MEC of Corporative Governance to intervene,” said MEC Mamabolo.
