MMC of Roads and Transport, Ms Dikeledi Selowa, said the City of Tshwane has started the roads rehabilitation program that will benefit residents of Atteridgeville and Soshanguve.

She said the program has a budget of R36 million and will focus on resurfacing roads within communities ensuring that the roads meet acceptable standards.

“The roads rehabilitation program is a key service deliverable for our department as we try to respond to the decaying road infrastructure that has been left unattended by past administrations,” she said. Road resurfacing is a standard maintenance technique in which a new layer of material is laid over the existing surface instead of replacing the entire road.

Regular resurfacing particularly in high traffic areas helps to extend the lifespan of the road and ensures the safety of all road users.
