HIV infection rate down by 39% in SA

The South African Institute of Race Relations (IRR) said research show that there has been great progress in the county’s fight against HIV/AIDS.  According to this research, HIV infections has gone down by 39% between 2009 and 2016, however despite the progress, more deepened campaigns to sustain the success are needed.

Tawanda Makombo research analyst said HIV infections have declined in all provinces across the country due to HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, condom distributions, television advertisements and billboards on the roads.

South Africa is amongst the countries in the African continent that are faced with the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
