A group of volunteering members from the African Committee Of Friends  (ACOF) an association of well-meaning South Africans and other African foreign nationals residing in South Africa, went down to Soshanguve community to tidy up the main road via TUT by picking up the garbage littering around the road.

The organiser, Mr Paul Nwafor, said the ACOF objective is to promote cleanliness to the environments by educating the masses that keeping the environments clean is a collective responsibility.

“Our mission is to get everyone both locals and foreign nationals involved in protecting our environments by keeping our cities and communities clean.

“The need to protect our environments cannot be over-emphasized, as the health hazards attached to unsafe environment is well known.

“We intend to carry out more of this educative campaign to other communities and urban areas especially in the trade zones or marketplaces where we have a lot of street hawkers, food vendors and the taxi ranks,” Mr Nwafor said.

He said they have officially kicked off the campaign in Soshanguve and they will take it to other areas.

The campaign was also an opportunity for the members to meet each other away from social media as they got to socialize after the cleanup.

“There are other humanitarian projects we are involved in beside the environmental protection campaign and for those good spirited individuals who wish to be part of our association either as a volunteer or to donate for a good cause should please kindly reach us on any of this cellphone numbers 0814326707 or 0736076667 or on Facebook: African Committee of Friends,” he said.
