Township Entrepreneurs Alliance (TEA), an organisation that focuses on empowering township and rural businesses and entrepreneurs, hosted its first seminar in collaboration with #joinusfortea at Soshanguve Halala community Hall in block H on 5 October 2019 10 09.
TEA helps with knowledge sharing, skills development, enterprise development and access to markets.
Mr Sbusiso Chauke, coordinator of TEA, said “TEA was formed in Soweto in 2015 annd hosted most of its seminars in Tembisa for the past four years. This year it has decided to travel to all the townships and rural areas in South Africa because people came as far as Soshanguve to attend the seminars.
“TEA events are free and so far the initiative has reached over 12 000 entrepreneurs, 20 000 students and it has 2.9 million social media followers”.
One of the entrepreneurs who attended the siminar, Karabo Motswane, who is the founder of Diphiri.com, said “my business idea came a few years ago after attending a funeral in Limpopo where no one wanted to help with hard labour activities. I decided to put together a group of people to do the hard labour that I could pay.
“We are currently the only ones in this kind of business and that is our selling point.
“What I have learnt from this seminar is that black child, it is possible, and never give up on your dreams and sometimes you will get challenges you must strive on and believe in your brand and own it,” Karabo said.
