Mr and Ms Thomas seek help to rebuild their burnt down house

Pensioner, Mr Frans Thomas, and his wife Ms Martha Thomas, from Boikgotsong have lost everything they own including their house in a fire that erupted from their garage on the 13th of February.

It was prior to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) when their neighbour told Mr Thomas that there was smoke coming from the garage.

They tried to put out the fire but it left them with a structure of what used to be their home.

The couple were given a four-room house to sleep in after they spent four days sleeping in one of the old cars just outside their house.

After the fire engulfed their home, residents tried to help the Thomas family by donating R2 000 on the day and the ward councillor, Mr Tshepo Motaung, played his role in helping them but still, their house has not been repaired.

Although some members of the community have tried to help, the Thomas family still seek help from people to help repair their house.

“We ask the community to help us rebuild our home with donations because we lost everything,” said Ms Thomas.

Mr Thomas said he built the house using his provident fund after he was released from work.

“We don’t know where are we going to start to rebuild,  hence we are looking at the community to help us rebuild and recover some of the things we lost,”  said Mr Thomas.
