Soshanguve Community Radio Sport presenter, Ms Meisie Motaung, won three awards in what is known to be a male-dominated industry. The sports personality of the year award, presented by Mabopane Square, was nominated and voted for by the public.
Ms Motaung won the Tshwane Community Radio Sports Presenter of the year, Soshanguve Community Radio sports researcher of the year, and the sports personality of the year awards.
During an interview, she expressed her happiness since it is her first time winning an award. She also said she sees the challenges that women face in the sports industry.
“This kind of opportunity was rare for women but now we see women dominating at the South African Football Association (Safa). This means opportunities are now open for women’s empowerment in the sports fraternity.
“Women should follow their dreams and must be driven by the passion to become the best,” she said
