Hammanskraal born and third year journalism student at the Tshwane University of Technology, Tebogo Moleya had made herself a promise to help school children get school shoes on her 21st birthday.
The plan was to donate 21 pairs of shoes to Namo Primary School in Stinkwater, Hammanskraal, but unfortunately, people who had promised her shoes disappointed her. She only got 14 pairs and she had received a hundred names from the school.
She encouraged those who are still promising to buy to do so because she will be able to take the shoes through to the school to help the destitute children.
She chose Namo primary school because that is where she attended her primary school from grade 1-7.
Ms Moleya said she once received a full school uniform while she was at school as a donation and it meant a lot to her and she wanted to do the same for others.
Mmamekgape, Namo Primary School’s Deputy Principal said a lot of pupils are disadvantaged, some don’t have jerseys and some don’t have shoes.
“What Tebogo did was a big thing for the student, teachers have also started a program of adopt a child to help students who are from indigent families.
One of the learners who received a pair of shoes could not contain her excitement at receiving a new pair of shoes.
Tebogo encouraged those who are still willing to donate shoes to do so especially during the chilling winter.
