Lesedi La Batho beauty pageant – The cash prize goes to…..

They say beauty pageants are for ‘beautiful people’ and exclude others which is not true. True beauty is not what you see outside but what’s in the inside.

The Mr and Miss Lesedi La Batho 2017/18 was held in order to break these stereotypes.

A number of 11 contestants, seven hopeful young ladies and four gentleman from in an around Mabopane, came together at the DR TA Moreosele Hall in Mabopane on Sunday 14 October 2018 to compete for the change to becoming a brand ambassador for Lesedi la Batho.

Mr and Miss Lesedi La Batho 2018/17 walked away with a cash prize of R1000 which they could use as they please. Thabang Mako Mr Lesedi winner said his plan as an ambassador was to make a positive change in the community, whilst Khutso Ramadi, Miss Lesedi, could not be reached for a comment.

“With the cash prize I am planning to get myself a new suit for my matric dance” said Mr Lesedi.

Lesedi La Batho is a Christian faith based NGO that works towards community development through different projects such as computer training, sawing and bedding.

An afterschool program for those struggling academically is part of their programmes as well as an LGBTI programmes to teach about acceptance and tolerance.

Amongst the judging panel was Kamogelo, Miss Lesedi La Batho 2013 who said they were simply looking for ambassadors to strongly represent the NGO well and be good role models to others.
