The Portfolio Committee on the Police considered that the visibility of the Police in communities and effective community policing should be concentrated upon.
The released Victims of the crime survey showed that crime is increasing. According to the survey almost 1.24 million households experienced crime between 2017 and 2018.
Mr Beukma, the Chairperson of the Police Portfolio Committee said,” the national police management should ensure that the clusters and station commanders increase efforts in dealing with the priority and contact crimes in their respective jurisdictions”.
The community policing will definitely benefit communities like Sosanguve. Crime has always been a bigger problem in Soshanguve faced by the residents so by focusing on the community policing, this will help decrease the crime rate.
Nthabiseng Kale, a resident from Soshanguve agrees with the community policing.
“This agreement community policing between the police and the residents will help bring the police and the residents together in order to solve and stop crime. In this way, the police will also become part of the community and this will build mutual trust between them and the community,” said Ms Kale.
With the community policing being taken into consideration, all communities including Soshanguve will be a better place for all residents.
