Social media activist, Khutsi Malala, commonly known as ‘Sosh Darling,’ celebrated his birthday in style by spreading love and endless happiness to the less privileged. Mr Malala bought cakes and food for orphans and Nyaope addicts in Soshanguve last Saturday 19th January.

He kicked off his birthday, by visiting the Ikhaya Le Themba orphanage home in Block NN where he spoiled about 20 orphans who reside at the home with cake, sweets, clothes and a musical item handed by DJ Edit.

The home caters for kids between the ages of six months to 16 years and as a way of showing appreciation to Mr Malala and his team, the children sang as well as encouraged him to help the orphanage with getting sponsors.

The children stated this will help build a better structure at the home because it has about five room shacks and it accommodates not only the homeless but also the less-fortunate kids in the community.

Manager, Ms Nombulelo Lelosa, said they were pleased to have Mr Malala celebrating his birthday at the home. “MR Malala has previously donated clothes to the centre, we are happy to see him here again sharing his special day with kids.

“Our home survives on donations and all the assistance we get from the community and we hope to continue working with Mr Malala in nurturing the less fortunate children,” said Ms Lelosa.

Mr Malala is known for many other good deeds, one of them being the deactivation of Bluetooth Nyaope. His birthday celebration did not end at Ikhaya Le Themba orphanage home, but went on to Mabopane Station’s Pick n Pay parking lot where he hosted a food kitchen. He served about 30 bluetooth nyaope addicts users with juice, cake and plates of food.

Addict, Mr Louise Maile (46), said he has been a slave to the drug for 18 years and he is grateful to be a beneficiary of Mr Malala’s good heart. “As an old man, I should be the one guiding Mr Malala with business mentorship instead of accepting food from him. I was a successful businessman until I started using this drug and I have lost everything.

“MR Malala’s presence here today gives me hope to believe that I can still change my ways and quit smoking this drug”, he said.

Amza Chicken Dust and Spur Tampico also donated food plates while funds for the cake and the other logistics were donated by his social media friends. According to Mr Malala, an estimated R4 500 was raised through donations received from Facebook friends.

“My family and friends all contributed amounts ranging from R150, R250 and R500 for the big day, everyone played a big part in helping us celebrate the birthday.

“I did not only get funds from people but also clothes to give to the orphanage and I would like to thank sponsors like Amza and Spur, who really came through for me and to make addicts and the kids to have fun for the day,” said Mr Malala.

He said this year he also plans to partake in community sports and recreation events such as Sosha Fun Run and TUT Soccer.

Sosh Darling told addicts who were at the food kitchen that since his campaigns, he has been able to reduce the application period by assisting addicts to go on rehab.

“The process takes about 1-2 weeks for an addict to go on rehab. Most people think it is difficult to go to rehab, but all you need is a medical report and to consult with some of the social workers and they will recommend you to a rehab”, he said.

Community members who need assistance with going to rehab are urged to contact Khutsi ‘Sosh Darling’ Malala on 081 798 2491 or email reikhutsitse@gmail.com
