The Department of Economic Development in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa, Liquor Board, Gauteng Gambling Board and Tshepo 1 Million, hosted a community outreach in Soshanguve, Block M, Crossing Mall on Tuesday morning in an initiative aimed at young people seeking employment and business ventures.
The Representatives from Department of Economic Development said the event is hosted to target the young entrepreneurs and young job seekers.
Because the unemployment rate is so high and they are trying to encourage people to create their own jobs independently, they say that they believe that in South Africa there is a lot of young people with talents, ideas and drive but not getting the resources to put their dreams into place.
The officials said the assistance will, in turn, help successful youth to hire more people and solve the unemployment crisis.
Assistance was also given to the youth and elderly people who had the required documents to register their own businesses to save the entrepreneurs on travel fares and also to provide a much cheaper registration fee of R175,00.
Themba Mkhwanazi, an agent from Tshepo 1 million, said Tshepo 1 Million works with unemployed youth from ages 18 – 34 to assist them with job opportunities.
“We are working with 500 companies in Gauteng whereby if you register with us here or on Tshepo.mobi, we will send your documents to these 500 companies which give the candidates more opportunities to be considered at one of these companies,’’ Mr Mkhwanazi said.
One of the community members who attended the event, Rorisang Nkgoatshe, said the community outreach hosted has helped him in finding out how he can acquire funds to kick start his business. He also added that such events cannot be underestimated by the unemployed youth.
Terens Mmeti, from Soshanguve, said, “The consultants are also very informative and explain everything from the start to the end until you understand how you can get help”.
Reabetswe Matsane who also attended the roadshow said the services offered a lot of ideas that can contribute to improving and changing lives.
