The City of Tshwane informs its customers about the resuming of the waste collection service operation from the 7th of September 2020, after services were interrupted from last week due to the expiry of the vehicle leasing contract.
Acting Executive Head of Strategic Communication, Mr Lindela Mashigo, said the waste management operations of the City were negatively affected following the expiry of the CSS46 tender on Monday, 31 August 2020.
“Normal waste collection schedule effectively resumed on Monday, 07 September 2020,” said Mr Mashigo.
He said the City demonstrated its commitment to clear the backlog over the weekend in certain areas by utilizing internal staff.
“The City is currently in the process of concluding the supply chain management process to award the replacement tender for the leasing of vehicles, yellow plant, equipment and machinery,” said Mr Mashigo.
“Delays were encountered due to the COVID-19 lockdown regulations, including having had a member of the evaluation team Who tested positive for the Coronavirus.
“This has resulted in all these, cumulatively, impacted the timelines and ability to finish the evaluation and adjudication in time.
“The City of Tshwane wishes to profusely apologize to its customers for the inconvenience caused”, he concluded.
