Kamogelo Mataboge (20) born in Rustenburg currently residing in Soshanguve established her own water brand on the 15th of March 2021 called Lewatle. This is after she identified that her village back at home struggles with water.
Ms Mataboge said she thought it would be a great idea to have a water purifying company so that people who do not have tanks and those who prefer still water can buy from her.
“So I have decided to start a small business by selling 500ml bottled water,” she said.
She said the name had to be in Setswana because her community is Tswana speaking, and she wanted the name to be water-related. Other names existed already so she came up with Lewatle.
“Lewatle means ocean and the ocean is beautiful so I thought it would be an amazing name for the bottled water business,” she said.
Ms Mataboge had the idea since she was 15 years old but could not start because of finances, but she finally got finances and registered her company in 2021 and started trading in March 2021.
“I want to swim with the big fish, I want my brand to be recognized as one of the best and big water brands in South Africa,” she said
