Donald Israel Maluleke Charity Organisation (DIMCO) donated school shoes and sanitary towels to Kutung Primary School in Soshanguve on 23 April 2021.
Director of DIMCO, Ms Millicent Maluleke, said the aim is to eradicate poverty by making sure no child misses school because of not having basic needs like shoes.
“Shoes are symbolic of pride and give confidence to young learners knowing that they can walk to school in comfort, “she said
Ms Maluleke said no girl must miss school because of a lack of sanitary towels and added that it is important to build confidence, restore the dignity and self-esteem in the girl child.
“Our motto is To change lives to make a difference in our communities,” she said.
Ms Maluleke said since the organisation started in 2014, they have donated close to 3 200 school shoes, and over 4 150 sanitary towels, and 28 orphanages have received groceries, clothes, sheets, and blankets.
“We would like to see DIMCO being a full-time NGO, donating on daily basis, adopting schools and having our orphanage center, and being able to create job opportunities,” she said
Ms Maluleke said DIMCO achieves its goals with the assistance of generous donations from members of the community and private companies.
