President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the extension of level 4 lockdown on Sunday afternoon leading to mixed reactions from residents of Soshanguve. Soshanguve Pulse went out to talk to the residences to hear concerns of the residents on the extension.

Hanry Mothapo

TUT student Mr Hanry Mothapo said all he wants is to go back to campus because studying at home is not working for him. “We are being delayed because we are expected to write summative tests online and we encounter network problems which make it easy for us to fail,” said Mr Motapo.

Miss Nomthandazo Tykushe said as a parent she is concerned that many people will lose their jobs again and the government does not offer much support for the unemployed. “I am afraid that if we go back to level five I might have to stay home without income and my children will go hungry”, said Miss Tykushe

Itumeleng Makhubele

Grade 11 pupil, Itumeleng Makhubele, said she is sad because she has to rely on homeschooling and she has no one to help her at home. ”Our academics are delayed again and there is nothing for us to do at home, I really hope that people comply with the rules so that we can go back to school,” she said.
