Two male suspects were arrested in Soshanguve block KK for drug dealing and possession by the Tswhane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Drug Unit members using crime information.

The suspects were found in possession of 700 pockets of heroin (Nyaope), estimated to have a street value of around R20,000.

Ms Gosi Maubelo who speaks on behalf of the Police said the suspects are currently detained in jail awaiting their court appearance.

“The TMPD drug unit members received information from crime intelligence about a house in Soshanguve Block KK where suspicious activities was said to be taking place and conducted a raid at the given location.

“The search led to a discovery of the drugs that were seized and two male suspects arrested and will soon appear in court to face charges for dealing and possession of drugs,” she said.

Mr Vincent Mokgodjo, of the Neighborhood Patrol Unit, said the community welcomes the police action to remove drug dealers from the streets because drugs and crime are a concern and the Neighborhood Patrol Unit will use every tool at its disposal to eradicate crime.

“We encourage the community to come together and assist police in eradicating more crime and arresting drug dealers and users,” he said.

Mr Herman Moloi, a street merchandiser said he hoped the police will not stop until they put a stop to drug trafficking in Soshanguve as it destroys the prospects for this community’s future.

“There are many things you can do if you need money; I sell fruits and vegetables on the street, and by doing so, I am able to put food on the table for my family. Selling drugs and smoking drugs is not a way to earn money to feed yourself and your family,” he said.
