The City of Tshwane has embarked on an awareness programme to promote and address sexual health issues, specifically for males.
The programme which started August 2017, offers free male circumcision throughout the year, under any local clinic administered by the Tshwane municipality.
The awareness programme was started to educate and profile Medical Male Circumcision (MMC) as a germ-free procedure performed to reduce the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections/diseases.
Above the free of charge procedure, patients also have the advantage of free transport to and from the MMC site. The procedures are done on patients from as young as 10 years old and above.
According to the City of Tshwane, men can benefit from the MMC programme by having reduced risk of contracting STIs including HIV, easy cleaning of the genital area, reduced risk of penile cancer and cervical cancer on female partners.
The city has urged men to make their bookings at any nearby clinics to take a step into a safer sexual lifestyle.
