The African Nation Congress (ANC) and South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa announced his first cabinet reshuffle at the Union Buildings in Pretoria recently.

This cabinet reshuffle saw him bring some of the former minister where the portfolios former president had dismissed them.

Among these ministers is the former “shoot to kill” police commissioner, Mr Bheki Cele, who now takes over as minister for police, replacing “Mr Fikile “Fearfokol” Mbalula.

The reshuffle is topical in the country, as it has to do with investor confidence in our economy affected by a lot of factors such as safety and secutiry.

Twitter will not be left out in kicking off the discussions. Mr “Fearfokol” took to twitter to congratulate the new minister by twitting “Good regards to BHEKI Cele, I know he will do a good job. Bopha Ndosi #CabinetReshuffle ”, as well as Mr Jones who most people know as Minnie Dlamini who tweeted “The General is back, #CabinetReshuffle”.

As to be expected, not everyone was excited about the general’s return; Boity Thulo was one of those people. She tweeted, “WE NEED YOUNGER, FRESHER MINDS IN CHARGE!!!!!”

Soshanguve Times took to the streets to ask and get the views of its people about Bheki Cele’s return as the minister of the SAPS, this is what was said:

20 year old, Mlamuli Ndlela, who is updgrading his matric of Block G in Soshanguve, said he was happy and glad that Bheki Cele is back because he felt that the police killings and shooting will decrease as he believes Mr Cele is a person with a firm hand. “Beki Cele has dignity and therefore a lot of people will listen to him as they know that he will bring dignity and honour back to the police department,” said Mdluli.

Zingisile Faku,  a 26 year old from Block H in Soshanguve, said he was not happy about the reappointment of Bheki Cele as he believed that the country will go back to fearing the south African justice system instead of respecting it.

“I believe that fighting crime should not be about violence, the country will go back to how it was during Mr Cele’s reign where crime will be prevalent,” said Mr Faku.
