Phumziule Primary School in Block H Soshanguve has reopened its doors to grade Seven and 12 learners as of 08 June 2020.

The school has put measures in place to make sure that the learners are protected within the premises of the school.

School principal Mr A O Ndimande explained to Soshanguve Pulse the procedure they follow.

“We went through orientation processes where leaners were told about the use of masks and sanitizers,” said Mr Ndimande.

The school follows the guidelines provided by the government, they were able to make things work as they also follow the protocol of the department of education.

With the help of COVID-19 Brigades that are at the school, they are able to keep the school sanitized after every lesson and the teachers also do the same before and after marking books.

“We do everything in our power to protect the children inside the school premises,” he said.

Ms Ntombimpela Mzelemu, COVID-19 Brigade in the school explained that the learners are sanitized every morning and after school.

“Food is taken to the children during lunchtime which makes it easier to control them.”

“Each child has their name slicked on a chair and desk to prevent them from sharing anything that might contribute to transporting the virus,” said Ms Mzelemu.

There are soaps placed in the toilets and there are lines drawn for social distancing in the classrooms and outside area of the school.

“We had a situation where a leaner presented high temperature because of flu, we contacted sister Mnisi from the clinic and the leaner will be back to school tomorrow,” said Ms Mzelemu.
