Mr Tshepo Pascal Mokone (21) from Mabopane owns a company called Waste Management and Cleaning Service. He said he was inspired by the Employee Public Works Program (EPWP) team as they worked very hard to keep the community clean.

He decided to start by cleaning people’s yards and rubbish bins at a reasonable price. Although he still faces the same challenges of bad attitude from residents when he enters their yards, he told himself that what does not kill him makes him stronger.

“I will not quit because of rejection,” he said.

He believes that he is teaching the youth of both Soshanguve and Mabopane that they should work hard to create income-generating activities.

“When you work for someone you are helping them build their legacy while yours falls behind,” said Mr Mokone.

Currently, he is working on getting tools for his company and reaching his goals.

“So far I am striving for success, I am working very hard so that I can get as many contracts as possible, the reason being that the more I get contracts the more I make money.

“I am part of a campaign called #bitez that gives food to people who are in need every Friday and offers waste management for free to the needy,” he said.

He has managed to secure contracts and uses a speed point for payments.

“Waste management is big, my vision is to make it in this industry, I see myself having waste management offices and at least one vehicle to easily transport equipment because currently, we rent a vehicle when we need one,” said Mr Mokone.
