The 19-year-old Tshwane Computer Science first year student, Ms Sharon Ngobeni, born and bred in Soshanguve has against all odds managed to become one of the finalists for Miss Township Pretoria 2021.
Ms Ngobeni started her modelling career this year and is willing to use this opportunity for greater heights. Even though modelling may be a bit of an undermined career, she said she sees a bright future in modelling.
“It is my greatest pleasure and privilege to be part of the finalists, it really feels like the first step to a dream come true. I hope to win the title so I can be able to inspire and crown the next upcoming contestants,” said Ms Ngobeni.
“It is currently the most amazing journey ever so far, I get to learn new things everyday humility being one of them, I also get the chance to network and interact with more people. As young people we face a lot of challenges from lack of skills, substance abuse, depression academic stress, peer pressure to domestic violence.
“As Miss Teen I am willing to help overcome all those issues by running an awareness campaign that will cover all these issues. What makes me different from the other contestants is the fact that I am a very influential person in a positive way, I celebrate everyone’s achievements and I love to keep my community motivated especially the most vulnerable ones,” she said.
She believes that she is the voice of the youth and said she is a giver more than a taker, I like to involve myself in charity works,” she said.
“As a first time model my biggest challenge was balance, wearing hills was a very tricky thing for me and giving relevant answers. But the most challenging thing I went through was picking up my self-esteem, it was really draining.
“It has been my passion to do modelling because I see it as the most relevant platform to explore opportunities that will help uplift the society like running charity events and offering counselling to victims of all kinds of abuse.
“My goal is to become on the most successful Forensic Science Technician, run my own charity organisation that will help uplift the youth. Even if I am not crowned as the next Miss Township Teen, I will continue to chase my dreams and motivate other people,” added Ms Ngobeni.
