The City of Tshwane has acquired 439 specialized vehicle fleet to ensure optimal operations at specific prioritized service delivery departments.
Tshwane Head Administrator, Mr Mpho Nawa, said during the launch of a fleet the vehicles were purchased to continue providing effective and efficient services unabated.
“These new vehicles, which are part of the City of Tshwane’s strategic Fleet Management Division replacement program, have state-of-the-art equipment and the latest professional tools on the market,” said Mr Nawa.
In addition, “As we take possession of this fleet, we want to give our communities an undertaking that these vehicles will be put to good use and for purposes of providing effective and efficient services. I want to also urge our employees to treat these vehicles with the utmost care as ours, resources are already overstretched. Let us set a good standard of infrastructure maintenance across all seven of our regions,” he said.
Mr Nawa announced that some of the acquired trucks include light commercial vehicles to be utilized by other Departments such as Roads, Electricity, and Water and Sanitation. “The other vehicles will be used for, inter alia, waste collection, patrol at landfill sites and transportation of employees to various sites,” he added.
The fleet includes 15 Waste Trucks that include 19 and 12cubic meter refuse compactors and skip loaders, one Mobile Library Truck to assist the City’s communities, three earthmoving equipment, five – 19M3 Waste Compactors, four – 12m3 Waste Compactors, six Skip loaders; eight Personnel Carders trucks for transportation of employees to various sites and six Quad bikes for landfill sites patrol.
“Among the vehicles displayed at the launch was a mobile library truck that will offer our communities a practical, sustainable, time, and cost-effective alternative to traditional libraries,” he said.
